The World Because of Me

I have had a distinct effect on the world around me, or so I've been told. People have told me that my poetry is beautiful and brightens up their day. They tell me it inspires them, which is a wonderful compliment. I love knowing that my poetry makes others happy and that they can relate to it.

My siblings have also been affected by me. We are best friends. I don't know what I would do without them. They are the best siblings I could ever have asked for.

I have been told that I am extremely friendly. I have many friends and have even become friends with a woman I met while staying in Washington! This is good, because friends are an important part of my life.

A Little About Me

My name is Emily Dickinson and welcome to my blog! In case you don't know, I am a very famous poet. I love to write. Actually, I love any kind of learning. It is one of my favorite ways to spend my time. I was born in the small town of Amherst, Massachusetts on December 10, 1830. I love my hometown and have never lived anywhere else!

My father was a lawyer and my mother was a hardworking woman. She took very good care of us and taught me all of her phenomenal housework and garden skills. My siblings are my brother Austin and my sister Lavinia. I call her Vinnie. We are all very good friends and I get along with them well.

I am not married, and neither is Vinnie. Austin is married to my best friend Susan Gilbert. I love to write letters, but I have written more letters to Susan than anyone else! I am honored to have her as a member of my family.
